Who We AreWe are the Humane Society of Ottawa County (HSOC). The HSOC
is a 501c(3) no-kill animal shelter that was established in 1976. Since then it has grown to be an important service to the
community, not only for animals, but for adults and children as well. Our organization prides itself in caring for the animals
of Ottawa County. We try to help as many animals as possible by correcting abuse and neglect, spaying/neutering each animal,
providing medical care to those in need, and adopting abandoned, surrendered and abused animals to new loving homes. Our goal
is to turn unwanted, uncared for and abused animals into loving members of new families. We are dedicated to a program of
spaying and neutering animals to ensure that more animals find their way into caring homes. We maintain a "NO KILL"
standard within humane guidelines. In 2007 we took in roughly
300 cats, 150 dogs, and 3 rabbits. We are limited on how many animals we can help because the funds are not always there and
there just isn’t enough room at the humane society to keep them. Our current shelter sits on several acres. We
have plans to build a new shelter, but are waiting to gain adequate funds before we begin any construction. The wonderful
HSOC volunteers do great work with coming up with different fundraisers and adoption events to keep the money coming in. We would like to thank all of our members and volunteers for their support!!
